Examinations time for kids. Relax.
1.Love them for who they are, not their results' outcome. Even if this seems difficult to follow, atleast tell them so.
This is called Unconditional love.Loving your child without any conditions.Loving your child with conditions, might make them slightly manipulative in their adult lives-Loving for a reason.
2.Encourage, enrich their environment and trust them to do well. They will do better under optimum pressure.but under discouragement, mistrust and restrictions they will want to move away from education at first given chance.Too less a pressure and too much of pressure is detrimental to performance in every situation. The pressure must be balanced with relief that can come as rest or entertainment. The entertainment should not be so much that the hangover of entertainment does come in way of serious learning. Ideally 2-3 hours of relief/entertainment is practical if you want the child to practice sitting in one place.
3. A life long learning will be slow to start with but consistent in growth. So Toppers are brilliant people no doubt, good human beings are rare.So your child could be either of the two.Its a happy choice.Cultivate goodness, anyway.
4.Remember how our own choices shaped us who we are, cause someone had belief in us.That someone is now 'us'.
5.Love yourself, this is the best that you could have done.Donot be hard on yourself. How many of us talk about our school report cards in parties. Its always about school days, school friends.
6.Discipline in kids come from their subconscious, real life role models.
Exams are not the end. They are the end of one academic year so that all students can be compulsorily be cleared for the next teacher to handle.
7.Its okay to be all charged up about teaching your child one day everything under the universe from academics to moral values, family legacy to ancestral glory, etc and not finding time on other days. This once in a while activity also becomes a regular interval feature in time.So instead of not communicating anything at all, communicating something is better.Kids will know when it is their ''learning the whole world in an hour'' kind of day and accept you as a weird parent , at the least.
8.There are no right ways and otherwise. You are loving and accepting of them, that's all matters. For guidance some children may turn to their friends. Some fortunate ones may be guided by Parents and teachers. Some listen to their inner voice. But if the inner voice says lazy 24x7, then the parents can interfere.
All the good as well as worst exams will pass. All the fortune and glory cannot help someone pass a real life exam without hardwork. So aim is make them pass real life exam eventually.
