Caring Parents, Exams Will PASS too.

Examinations time for kids. Relax.

1.Love them for who they are, not their results' outcome. Even if this seems difficult to follow, atleast tell them so.
This is called Unconditional love.Loving your child without any conditions.Loving your child with conditions, might make them slightly manipulative in their adult lives-Loving for a reason.

2.Encourage, enrich their environment and trust them to do well. They will do better under optimum pressure.but under discouragement, mistrust and restrictions they will want to move away from education at first given chance.Too less a pressure and too much of pressure is detrimental to performance in every situation. The pressure must be balanced with relief that can come as rest or entertainment. The entertainment should not be so much that the hangover of entertainment does come in way of serious learning. Ideally 2-3 hours of relief/entertainment is practical if you want the child to practice sitting in one place.

3. A life long learning will be slow to start with but consistent in growth. So Toppers are brilliant people no doubt, good human beings are rare.So your child could be either of the two.Its a happy choice.Cultivate goodness, anyway.

4.Remember how our own choices shaped us who we are, cause someone had belief in us.That someone is now 'us'.

5.Love yourself, this is the best that you could have done.Donot be hard on yourself. How many of us talk about our school report cards in parties. Its always about school days, school friends.

6.Discipline in kids come from their subconscious, real life role models.
Exams are not the end. They are the end of one academic year so that all students can be compulsorily be cleared for the next teacher to handle.

7.Its okay to be all charged up about teaching your child one day everything under the universe from academics to moral values, family legacy to ancestral glory, etc and not finding time on other days. This once in a while activity also becomes a regular interval feature in time.So instead of not  communicating anything at all, communicating something is better.Kids will know when it is their ''learning the whole world in an hour'' kind of day and accept you as a weird parent , at the least.

8.There are no right ways and otherwise. You are loving and accepting of them, that's all matters. For guidance some children may turn to their friends. Some fortunate ones may be guided by Parents and teachers. Some listen to their inner voice. But if the inner voice says lazy 24x7, then the parents can interfere.

All the good as well as worst exams will pass. All the fortune and glory cannot help someone pass a real life exam without hardwork. So aim is make them pass real life exam eventually.

Love thy neighbour!

Time to know who your neighbour is and love thy neighbour again.I may be old fashioned. These are strictly my views. Glad to share them with you.
1.Technology should only be so much used that it brings us closer to real people. And it should be kept to minimum if it separates us from our loved ones and well wishers.
2.Because of social networking sites we may be knowing when our friend in overseas had a hangover but may not be updated that our neighbour is sick too.
3.Technology has not touched as many senior citizens as much as it has all of us who are reading this. But the side effects of tech. advances is that it might cause alienation between a loving couple people , cause both of them are busy on their latest phones texting some other friends, while they should have been feeling lot better holding hands.
4. A reasonable knowledge of it is necessary to be in touch with knowledge updates round the world.
5.kids should be taught technology and also reasonable limits have to be set so that they learn to give real responses face to face rather then believe only in printed texts.
6.Teenagers should learn to believe the reality in front of them rather  what they learn about others on technology.
Summing up, real people, real experiences are more satisfying. So, Time to know who you neighbour is and love thy neighbour again.

God in Good.

Sri Bhagavad Gita

  • "A person with little awakenedness/ goodnatured also resembles God (unknown source of strength).God lives in that person as long as the moment lasts, sometimes for few seconds, minutes, days, years and rarely but not impossible even for a life time. The objective of human life should be to strive and convert such moments from seconds to a lifetime.INo ones life is easy as it seems to others. So move on .........take up something that you truly love being yourself and feel that unknown source of strength in you."

Handwriting and U!

Dear friends, each one of us have a unique handwriting just like we have unique fingerprints. But with the age of internet no one is writing much these days.It is a dying art.For some children and grandchildren to come, finding how the handwriting of their parents might look like may become some 'treasure-hunt' that they ever imagined.Losing ones handwriting is the most  personal precious skill that we may ever lose.Love letters, letters to friends and close associates can be made personal by doing it the traditional way- writing. So I think very soon seeing any ones handwriting sample may be very difficult in time to come. Even similar looking hand writings have many distinctive features.Today I would like to share as a psychologist, that  handwriting is an art and its analysis is a science.
There is possibility of changing some  behaviour patterns by correcting some aspects of the handwriting. Also for normal people as well as psychopaths/criminals/offenders it is not possible to fake being someone else by following an another  man's handwriting. Some or the other letter in the writing will give away the faking to someone who has complete knowledge of it. Even knowing a little of handwriting analysis is a good leisure time hobby for many in work places. But, it may be boring to know that "little knowledge is once again dangerous", even in the case of this analysis.
Just in case any of you is interested in reading others out of  general curiosity or necessity, here are a few   tips to get started, and i will keep posting as the interest shows by.

Skills of a handwriting Analyst( even if it  is for time pass):
1. Observation of Details in handwriting.
2. Genuine Interest in knowing others.
3.  Not to manipulate others with the little knowledge of the analysis.
4. To share with others whatever is understood from handwriting exactly from which specific aspect.
5. To learn atleast a few correction strategies through improved handwriting.

Statutory warning:Please do not generalise the general analysis unless it is corroborated with other coherent signs.
1.Usually, the way people use their plain sheet of paper is the way the they use their resources wisely or without much thought. You might have seen some people use a whole lot of A-4 size paper to write a small bit of information, while there may be others who look for appropriate piece of paper for the length of the information.
2.Mostly, People who use ink pens are highly emotional and are concerned about impressions.
3.Most likely, people who use always coloured pens other than blue or black, are always wanting to be seen as having unique identity, different from others, usually not for the reason that they may be truly different from others but out of fear that they may not be really  unique.
4. Most people, who retrace many letters in their writing are always trying to correct their imperfections and  it may also mean, (along with others signs), that they fail to learn from their mistakes and repeat them.
5. Interestingly, people who light many points in their letters, with highlighting pens feel everything is important  and most often may not conclude or reach the point of summary in their letter ( they may not successfully come to conclusion as what is the most important thing to do).Such people are usually artistic in nature cause of their attention to detail which makes them feel everything is important. And remember most creative people are not always compelled about completing their work if something distracts or disinterests them.

Happy analyzing! Get going and learn this ancient science and see the difference. There are many good books and lots of interesting information on the net also.

Moody buddy!

Moody and Irritable friends and loved ones can be a big cause of concern.  One of my acquaintances had asked me about coping with mood swings of people who are close to us or related in some way. I thought will take this issue at two levels-coping with mood swings of self and coping with mood swings of others. In twenty four hours people have been known to go through greatest and lowest of feelings. Emotions are not easy to manage like friends on Face book. People have different moods for different moments. Sometimes very sane people can behave very insanely. Emotions have their basis partly in the moment and partly in the more or less stable entity that we call as an individual's personality.  Personality is again an outcome of nature (genetics) and nurture (environment). Disturbing nature and/or nurture issues have their implications of the emotional personality of the person. Mature adults follow an unconscious emotional rule called delayed or deferred gratification. Delayed gratification is an ability to wait in order to obtain something that is highly desired or wanted. Kids and Children have an impulse for instant gratification. As children become adults, and they are taught with love, come to understand a good impulse control is necessary for enjoying normal lives. Moody ones generally tend to express their emotions and reactions easily and not wait for another right moment. Strange but true that some impatient, aggressive people are more terrified of themselves than they are of others. Such people at times, are shocked at themselves and also scare others with their violent actions or behaviours. What to do at times, if we are to be in company of such.

Mild mood swings are correctable without therapeutic help, which we will be discussing here. Very interesting observations that we tend to ignore in our daily lives that has huge impact on physical as well as emotional health are Sleep and food. Yes it is that simple. Mild mood swings can be easily controllable by actively engaging in an exercise schedule, positive auto suggestions (suggestions to self), and reading inspiring true stories. IF one can manage satisfaction from these two areas, which look simple; yet difficult to achieve, one can be in control, largely. Everyone has a different set of hours for experiencing that blissful, content sleep. Most of us have issues with food and dinner table moods are common. Couples and families, who have busy lives throughout the day, meet up at homely sweet dinner and things go sour. Food issues could be very irritating for anyone, ranging from cooking style, quantity, variety or flavour etc. Food issues are not small issues, mend it and MIND IT. Resolve and make a flexible timetable for two weeks at least, in advance as to what will on the table. Planning should be backed by stocking things required to execute that timetable.
Coping with Mood swings of Self
1. Sleep Well. If mood swings trouble you, you should be the first one to manage your sleep more than your career. Rethink if there is something that can be changed in your life for catching up on the sleep that you feel missed out. Once again the trick is to plan your day and work your day. It is not easy but one should always have a sleep plan for working days and holidays. Make a plan for kids, so that they are getting full sleep and not irritable while waking them up for school. So in order to make a sleep plan, one will have to consider all things like how much television, gaming, studying, friends, parties etc.
2. Food it up. Negotiate with family and everyone gets to eat what they want once in a week or something like that. That way the nutrition is also taken care on other days when fun food dominates the other. Of course, we are living a life and we cannot enjoy life in strict regimentation. Relaxing on your schedules once in a while is okay but I have problem with following the plan once in a while.
3. Recollect past Guilt. It is good to remember feelings of regret and guilt, so that the unwanted actions are not repeated. If your mood swings angered your colleagues, family, friends, then it is time to work out. Some people do feel guilty after a bad show by them. So next time you are an unpredictable mood, just recollect how guilty you were in your past when you could not just hold yourself together.
4. Abstain from speaking and touching anything (living, nonliving) while you in your bad phase. Just stay away from everyone and do not touch things in your surroundings that you may feel like throwing. Walking or a quick shower may help a lot.
5. Do not be ashamed. Do not drive. Do not take decisions in bad phase. Do not blame others (parenting, boss, spouse, kids, and situations). We are not born perfect. But we can learn and start afresh and it is possible. But please make an attempt to make others happy. On one’s last bed, one will never regret not spending more time at office but will definitely feel that one should have loved their near and dear ones. You Are OK. But please start it NOW.

Coping with Mood swings of Others
1. Sleep and Food. No food, bad mood is totally true especially for people in their middle ages. Please ensure if possible that this person is sleeping well and eating food on time. If meals are not had on time it may lead to a condition of lowering blood sugar that may also trigger irritable emotions. If  one has made sure that the reasons for the irritable emotions is not as silly or simple as this, then move on to next level of coping.

2. Escape to safety. Protect Kids. When you are facing someone who is violent in their bad phase, it is not such a good idea to talk. Seek and involve other people and it may curtail the bad behaviour in most instances. Escaping in this situation is not the same as escaping a situation without facing it. Unless it is war or duty calls, it is better to safe than sorry. It is very important that kids do not see role models who are not practicing the delayed gratification rule and are bent on venting their emotions instantly. Any repeated behaviours of extreme violence and extreme apology, not acceptable as normal. Any such repeated behaviours may need therapy and/or legal recourse.

3. Speak, at a later moment. But remember, Do Not nag. Extreme mood swings have everything in excess, the anger, the aggression and the regret and the apology. Because work places do not tolerate such swings, the most obvious victims are mostly family or friends. If the mood swings are a big problem to the survival of a relationship, it has to be discussed in the family. In India, two people mean, not just two people. Let it be known. Believe your wise counsel and make your feelings known to others clearly.

4. Introduce such people to the goodness of culture, physical workout, religious outings or reading of self help books. If affordable and possible, a vacation to a serene or religious place, rather than an exciting happening place should be visited along with the person and new way of thinking should be decided then at the vacation Life is short, a 100 years may feel like a few moments and if it bad even a few moments will be difficult to pass by. So do encash time being happy and making others happy. It is no point losing temper over family for some less worthwhile work. No time to be moody. We have this one great beautiful life. Keep it simple. Enjoy, Live, Laugh, Forgive and Love.
